Hi, I’m Chris

I’m a wife, mother of six, grandmother of seven, nurse practitioner, lifelong learner, and self-taught quilter.

I came to sewing later in life and did what I have always done when something interested me: I wanted to understand all of it.

I wanted to know why one fabric behaved differently from another, which tools were genuinely useful, where traditional blocks originated, how color changed a design, and whether the quilting advice repeated across the internet was actually accurate.

Research and education have been part of my professional life for decades. At Chris Cross Quilts & More, I bring those same habits into the sewing room—asking questions, sorting through information, finding trustworthy resources, and explaining what I learn in language ordinary people can use.

I also make things. Many things. Quilts remain at the center, but bags, appliqué, embroidery, clothing, and whatever technique has recently captured my attention are all liable to appear.

There Is Always More to Learn

Quilting can be practical, artistic, historical, comforting, frustrating, absorbing, and occasionally determined to prove that our measurements were more optimistic than accurate.

That is part of what makes it worth exploring.
